Welcome!, By: Krystle Ward, President
Sacramento Section...Feel the Heat! This year the 2001-2002 sectional officers have planned more events and more involvement. This is one new thing we want to start, a newsletter. If you want to write an article or get your chapter featured please contact Krystle Ward, Sectional President and newsletter editor. Other goals we have are chapter visits. We would like to attend meetings of the different chapters within the section. This year the officer team has already bonded through meetings and COLC (Chapter Officer Leadership Conference). Due to the events of September 11th the team was unable to attend the Sectional Summit. On October 6 & 7 the team attended the Central Region COLC. The Regional Officers open the conference up with a skit introducing the regional theme, FFATake Aim, Fuel the Flame! There was also a skit put on by the state officers about California commodities. That night each sectional officer team within the Central Region did a lip sync. Although we did not win, I must say throughout the rest of the conference everyone was humming or singing our song, Smoke on the Water. This contest was then followed by a conference dance. The next day officers attended a workshop corresponding to their office. The Regional Officers did an outstanding planning for the duration of the conference and a wonderful patriotic ceremony for the events of US History and the September 11th tragedy. This however did not slow down the momentum of the conference. The State Officers were also on hand and gave three inspiring workshops that each conference participate attended. One key highlight of the conference was when our National Officer Candidate and new National President, Dane White, gave a keynote address. He talked about how each individual has a spark and how you have to ignite it to your own flame, whatever it might be. He used a box of matches and a match while working off the State Officers theme, California FFA ... Igniting Your Fire!

Farm Renovation at Ponderosa, By: Dan Johnson, Vice President
The Ponderosa FFA has been working hard renovating it's 5 acre school farm. A scheduled work day was carried out with the full use of the talents of our members and their parents. Krystle Ward's dad used his backhoe to dig septic lines while foundations were built for the new sheep barn and swine facility. Over 10 large trees were removed along with many bushes to ready the front acre for Ms. Livorsi's floral class to design a new frontage road and groundcover to keep down erosion. All the work completed was no easy task but will definitely be paid off when the Ponderosa FFA has a new look to it's school farm.

Regional Meeting, By: Leeman Parker, Treasurer
The Central Region Meeting is coming up and to make this one especially memorable I want the Sacramento Section to be enthusiastic! Try to get your school to make signs for the section, school, or a candidate you know. And ask your ag teacher if it is to late to be a delegate so that you can elect whom you want to run your region. If your chapter hasn't done their local speaking contest think about doing the Creed, Job-Interview, Extemporaneous, or Prepared Public Speaking contests. If you make it on you will be competing at the Regional Meeting as well. Good luck and see you there!
Section Plans, By: Jeremiah Sanders, Reporter
Sacramento Section Officers have set many goals to achieve throughout the year. Many consist of unity between the chapters in the section along with chapters outside the section. We are striving to make as many opportunities available to meet with you, the chapter members. Particular steps towards this goal are, we the officers, plan to both execute chapter visits and possible events that may include (but not limited to, if any suggestions arise through members) a mud volleyball game, dances, even the possibility of a softball game with the state officers. I hope these goals will enable every Sacramento Section member to participate and meet new people. If you have any suggestions on activities please contact any of the Section Officers.
Chapter Visits, By: Leeman Parker, Treasurer
The Sacramento Sectional Officers are trying something new this year, chapter visits. As the year goes on the officers will come by and attend a few of the chapters monthly meetings. This is a way for each chapter within the section to be heard in all of our decisions. If your chapter has a question or concern please feel free to ask the officers.
